1st and 2nd class school tour to U.L.

17/6/2019

First and second class thoroughly enjoyed their first ever school tour to the University of Limerick Adventure Centre. Our first port of call was the Olympic sized pool where we all splashed and raced one another to our hearts content. After a quick snack and a change of clothes we tried our hand at 'Last Man Standing'. This activity was a firm favourite of all the students. The aim of the game was to be the last remaining person, standing upright, on a bouncy castle style trampoline. There were laughs and giggles galore as the spinning lever knocked a lot of children down! Staying indoors, our next activity was the 'Ninja Challenge'. Two teams raced one another in a relay style challenge, through the biggest bouncy castles we'd ever laid eyes on! After putting fuel in the tank (another snack!) we walked outdoors, down to the River Shannon.  Feeling excited and nervous, we carefully clipped on our life jackets and helmets and braced ourselves for the icy depths of the river.  One group of children practiced their kayaking (and tried not to get pulled downstream by the current!), whilst another group of children balanced on a raft and the courageously jumped off! Despite the cold chill of the water, most children jumped off the raft two or three times... shrieking and laughing all the while. Under the careful guidance of the UL instructors, all children really enjoyed the rafting and kayaking very much. Fortunately, the weather held whilst we did these outdoor activities. After working up an appetite, we showered, changed and ate our well-earned lunch 'al fresco'. Unfortunately we could not make the much anticipated trip to the shop as a very heavy shower of rain had arrived and stayed for the rest of our time at U.L. Luckily we found a couple of well stocked vending machines and happily got a treat or two. Four o'clock had arrived and it was time for us to return to Lisronagh N.S. Many thanks to Ms.O'Connell, Mrs.O'Meara and Ms.Moclair for their help and support on the day. We hope we can return to U.L. again someday!
