While the exact date of establishment of Lisronagh N.S. is unknown, there is mention of a parish school house in documents dated 1850. The first school in Lisronagh was a girls’ school. The school was situated in the present Church car park and it remained on this site, (by this stage co-ed), until 1963.

The “new school”, opened in 1963, moved to a new site beside the old school. 1993 saw the addition of a third classroom and third teacher. Lisronagh N.S. became a four teacher school in 2002.
In 2006 the school purchased some adjoining land from Pat O’Mara, providing the school with a purpose built playing pitch. The school underwent a big transformation in 2008/2009, with the building of four new classrooms and extensive modernisation of the older building, bringing learning at Lisronagh N.S. into the 21 st century.
