Many thanks to the members of our Parents' Association who took the time to come to school today to carve pumpkins with each class and to 'Witchy McWitcherson' for telling us some very spooky stories!!! The children had a terrific time!! The prize winners in 5th/6th. The standard this year made it very difficult to judge, well done to all! 🎃
The infants enjoyed participating in various Maths Week activities this week. They took part in the Steve Sherman maths webinars called 'Loving Maths' each morning from 9 to 9.30am and solved his daily maths puzzle. They went on a dinosaur trail where they had to measure each dinosaur with cubes and record their length on an answer sheet. They looked at the Maths Week Dino poster and solved the questions on it. They also played lots of fun maths games each day. On Friday, each child took home a Maths Week certificate, much to their delight! As part of Maths Week we have been busy guessing how many items are in the 'Estimation Jar' each day. The student with the correct answer gets to take home a sweet treat as their prize. Here are the lucky winners! Friday's winner got to take home the entire jar of jellies!!
We raised our first Active flag at Lisronagh NS on Friday the 13th of October. Congratulations to Mrs. Armstrong, the Active Schools committee and the students on working so well together to achieve this. We were honoured to have Mary Fitzgerald an Irish paralympian athlete in to raise the flag for us. Mary also spoke to each of the classes about her sporting career so far and how one should never give up on their dreams. We would like to thank the Parent's Association for giving each of the children a 'goody bag' in recognition of their hard work in getting an Active Flag.
Our U11 boys who competed in a football blitz today in Cloneen. They played four teams, Cloneen, Ballyneale, Kilsheelan and Drangan. The had an enjoyable day, improving steadily throughout the blitz and winning two of their four matches. They were narrowly beaten in the other two games. Well done boys!
Congratulations to the boys and girls from 3rd to 6th classes who competed in the Cross Country Running event. They all ran very well despite the inclement weather conditions. We are very proud of them all.
